A Type Exploration themed for a Post-Punk Cafe.
Killer Coffee is a Post-Punk Cafe brand based off of the type exploration “Sliced.”
Sliced is an edgy typeface inspired by post-punk bands of the late 70’s. This font is based on the iconic slab-serif Clarendon created by Robert Bessley in 1845. Sliced features thick, sharply cut borders around characters to mimick letters being cut out of a newspaper. Its characteristics include wide proportions, with a large x-height, and short ascenders and descenders.
genre overview
Post-punk is a genre of music that emerged in the 1970’s and evolved alongside punk. In the beginning it was sometimes referred to as “new musick” or “art-punk.” It was a prominent genre in both the East Coast, and in England in the late 70’s. There was a huge decline in the appeal of post-punk in the 90’s, but in the early 2000’s it made a comeback mostly established in New York.
